The Giltinan Championship is almost here

Noakes 18ft SkiffThis week the Aussie 18's are getting ready for the JJ's aka the JJ Giltinan Championship. We have no doubt that our friends at Live Sail Die will be talking up the Kiwi's and the rivalry will be STRONG!

We would like to wish everyone a great regatta, especially as a number of our trade customers are competing. We also have Nathan onboard Noakes 18ft Skiff

Many of the boats have social media accounts you can follow as well as the Official accounts with Livestream as well.

Why not make a day of it and cheer on the Aussie teams!  The Spectator Ferry has a fantastic commentator and is a great spot to watch the racing and spend a few hours on Sydney Harbour.

In 1937. Mr. James J. Giltinan, Secretary of the Australian 18 Footers League, planned a world’s championship for 18 foot open boats and the League presented a trophy (popularly known as the JJ Giltinan Trophy) to celebrate the event.

Since the first regatta on Sydney Harbour in 1938, the championship has always been regarded as the world’s premier 18 Footer championship and many of its competitors have become world, Olympic and national champions in a variety of yachting classes.

The Giltinan Championship regatta is held annually on Sydney Harbour and provides spectators (both on the water and along the harbour foreshores) with the world’s most spectacular racing.
