Australian Sailing Team gears up for the future

The Australian Sailing Team is ensuring that its crews will have access to the best equipment available with the re-signing of an existing supplier, and the addition of a new one.

The Team has extended its successful partnership with Liros ropes for another four years and has added leading protective tape manufacturer, PROtect Tapes, to its group of Team suppliers.

Members of the Australian Sailing Team have had access to Liros ropes since 2010, with crews using the products during their recent successful campaigns.

Liros, based in Germany and represented in Australia by DeckHardware, is recognised as a world leader in the manufacture of yachting ropes, kitesurf cords, paragliding lines and a wide range of industrial cordage.

PROtect tapes is based in Italy and has a history of producing high quality specialty tapes that protect equipment and enhance performance.

Designed for boats of all sizes, from dinghies to super yachts, the PROtect tapes range provides effective solutions to chafing, abrasion, scratches, damage, ageing and wear.

Australian Sailing Performance Director Peter Conde said that the team is looking forward to working with Liros and PROtect tapes over the next four years.

“Our relationship with Liros has been very successful with our crews finding their range of products to be outstanding in terms of performance and quality,” said Conde. “We look forward to continuing this relationship as Team members compete around the world in their quest for Olympic and Paralympic gold.

“A number of crews tested PROtect tapes in their London 2012 campaign and were very pleased with the results.  This arrangement will allow our entire team to benefit,” he said. “PROtect tapes produce a range of high quality products which protect our sailors’ equipment and enhance performance.”
